When You’ve Finished Hunting Pronghorn Antelope in The Rockies, Head to Las Vegas

By 30 March 2021

A fantastic animal to hunt in the United States is the pronghorn antelope. These animals are a test for even some of the best hunters in the country as they have a very have a very good sense of smell and very acute hearing, meaning that if you do not get downwind of them or if you make the slightest noise when within shooting distance of one, your chance of shooting one is pretty slim to say the least.

The Best Place to Hunt Pronghorn Antelope

Pronghorn antelopes, which are not actually antelopes by the way, can be found all across Central and Western America, but the best place to hunt them is in The Rockies. Hunting, in our humble opinion, is supposed to be a challenge, and a challenge is exactly what you will get when hunting pronghorn antelope in the Rockies. In our view, there is nothing exciting about going out hunting for a particular animal and having one shot within 20 minutes.

A lot of the excitement when hunting comes from the search. There is nothing that gets your adrenaline pumping more than walking through the wilderness and the bushes trying not to make a noise so that you do not startle what you are looking for. Every hunter out there will know the thrill and rush that you feel when you have been walking through the wilderness for hours and you finally set eyes on what you came for. Sometimes your adrenaline can be pumping so hard that you have to take a deep breath (not too loudly though) and calm yourself down before you aim and take the shot.

What makes the whole situation even more tense is the fact that you know that you only get one chance at this. If you miss your shot, then you could spend another three to four hours wandering around the wilderness again before you come across another pronghorn antelope.

Where to Stay When Hunting in The Rockies

If you are going to spend a few days hunting in The Rockies, then you obviously need a place to sleep in the evening. Now, you can take your own tents with you or can stay in a lodge. In our opinion, it is best to stay in a lodge as there are plenty of bears about and the last thing that you want is to be woken up in the middle of the night by an inquisitive bear.

There are plenty of lodges available at very affordable prices. Now, they do not come with a lot of luxuries, but luxury is really the last thing that you should be looking for when you are out hunting with your friends. The lodges will have beds, a kitchen, and a bathroom. In our opinion, you do not need much more than that. Entertainment will come in the shape of the company that you are with.

What to Do at the End of Your Hunting Trip

So, your hunting trip is over, and you bagged yourself a couple of pronghorn antelopes. However, before you head on home (wherever that might be), we recommend that you pay a visit to Las Vegas, especially if you have not been before. Las Vegas is pretty close to Colorado, so you would be pretty foolish to miss out, especially if you are partial to a bit of gambling.

If you are a bit of a gambler, then we recommend that at the end of your hunting trip you head along to the Las Vegas strip and see if you are as lucky at a casino as you are when out in the wilderness hunting pronghorn antelopes. When it comes to casinos to visit in Las Vegas, you definitely have to take a trip to Caesars Palace, ARIA, Casino Royale, and The Excalibur. You cannot take a trip to the Las Vegas strip and not visit these casinos.
